Dear Neighbors,

We invite you to become a member of your SW Olympia Neighborhood Association (SWONA).

The association’s mission is to involve neighborhood residents in full and democratic discussion and action on issues that affect the quality of life in our neighborhood. Traffic and safe, quiet streets continue to be the No. 1 issue for our neighbors. Westsiders are walkers - with our dogs, our children, our friends.

SWONA offers an opportunity for individuals, families, and children to make new friends, help each other, and collaborate on projects and activities that can keep our neighborhood healthy and nurturing of community life.

One of our goals is to transform our neighborhood streets with safe and inviting spaces for folks to get active and connect with one another. Check out our “Walking Park” created over the first 10 months of 2008. We hope to inspire people in the neighborhood to take creative action that results in more kids walking or biking to school; more people who are out-of-doors getting to know their neighbors; better stewardship of our natural assets - using solar energy, making community gardens, building new trails.

SWONA is as strong, engaging and meaningful as you and others in our SW neighborhood make it by participating. If you join, you will get the newsletter and regular email contact about activities. And, if you join, SWONA will get another link in the spicy sausage that is our neighborhood! We like you to pay the $5 per calendar year so we can buy paper and make copies and put on our annual barbeque, so don’t forget!
Regular meetings are 7:00-8:00 pm, the third Thursday of alternate months. Go to the swona2007@yahoo.com to verify, or check the kiosk at Decatur Woods Park. All meetings are at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Fireplace Room. Harrison & Perry St. Babysitting is available at the meeting, children welcome. Other activities as announced.
To join SWONA, fill out the form on the back and bring it to a meeting or send it with a check payable to SWONA for $5 annual dues to: Joni Schlarb, Treasurer, 417 Percival SW, Olympia 98502. See you in the neighborhood!
