Association Officers - Roles and Responsibilites
SWONA Officers - 2009
President - currently Diana Renison
Plan and facilitate member meetings
Communicate Association positions as appropriate
Act as primary contact-person for the Association
Coordinate with other officers; help set annual goals for the Association
Keep track of Association activities
Review and respond to swona2007 email messages, or delegate to another officer
Vice-president - currently Barb Day
Assist the President to set and meet annual goals
Work with the President on event and project coordination
Serve as contact person when the President is not available
Move up to President as terms expire (ideally)
Secretary — currently Loraine Snell
Take meeting notes and prepare minutes for member and other meetings
Maintain minutes and other decision documents of the Association
Annually update Recognized Association files with the city
Treasurer - currently Joni Schlarb
Keep the Association’s books
Ensure that all funds are deposited and disbursed in accordance with the bylaws and as directed by vote of the membership
Keep a record of members and dues paid
Report status of the Association finances at regular membership meetings

Distribute newsletter & flyers: Block captains - you can be one, too!
Post notices in kiosk at Decatur Woods Park: Anamika
Forward official city and county communications to member list: Loraine Snell
Newsletter and website: Bethany Weidner
“Welcome Spot” cleanup: Joe Beck
Informal board: Officers plus Peter Sanderson, Brad O’Brien, Ed & Rosemary Esbeck, Dan Leahy, Chris Jennings, Bethany Weidner and others who show up!
Important new roles we need neighbors to fill:
Stewards — one for each Walking Park site: Welcome Spot, Poetry Post, Garden Spot and Rainier View. Responsibilities:
Visit your spot regularly to see if everything is okay,
Organize work parties from neighbors as needed for seasonal spiffing up and loving care. Be creative and involve your neighbors.
Encourage use of the Walking Park and integrate the spots into the neighborhood
Active, involved participants in neighborhood projects: Everyone
